Philip is a proud native of San Antonio, Texas—a city whose vibrant cultural intersections and deep historical roots shape the heart of his creative work. As a Hispanic artist, storyteller, and writer, he brings a layered perspective to his practice, blending traditional fine art training with a modern narrative voice. His work spans painting, photography, and mixed media, often centering on the human figure and portraiture to explore themes of identity, culture, race, and equality. Philip’s work crafts stories that speak to the lived experiences of marginalized communities and inspire critical conversations around social justice and cultural belonging.
My work reflects lived experience—rooted in my identity as a Hispanic man, a native of San Antonio, and a proud Texan. Through painting, photography, and storytelling, I explore the complexities of culture, identity, and the human condition. I am drawn to the figure, to faces and bodies that hold stories—of ancestry, resilience, longing, and pride.
Raised in a city where tradition and transformation coexist, I carry forward the aesthetic and emotional power of classical art mediums, while channeling them into contemporary narratives. My process is both intuitive and intentional: I use composition, color, and texture to create images that ask questions, provoke dialogue, and invite reflection. Whether on canvas or behind the lens, I aim to honor the dignity of my subjects while challenging viewers to consider their roles within larger systems of race, gender, and equity.
My body of work consists of storytelling lost traditions and heritage in reclamation of new identities and bold futures. Paintings, photos, and writing are representative of newfound visibility otherwise erased by injustice, pursuant to amplify voices often overlooked or misunderstood. I endeavor to create contributions to ongoing conversations about representation, visibility, and justice.
Dissolving boundaries and margins through my art, I hope to bridge differences, affirm identities, and prosper with love and goodwill.
