Rebecca Valadez

Rebecca Valadez is a force in the music industry whose career began at an age when most are just starting to dream. As a preteen, she captivated audiences as the opening act for the live musical production of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Tour, marking the beginning of an extraordinary journey. She was on the television show with Ed McMahon on the international show Star Search, where she sang Dos Arbolitos. By 14 years old, Rebecca was already a background vocalist for the legendary Tejano band, Grupo Mazz, securing her place in one of the most iconic groups in Latin music history. Her trajectory only skyrocketed from there and at age 17, she
was hired to tour with Janet Jackson on the unforgettable Velvet Rope World Tour (1998-99), an experience that further cemented her as a musical powerhouse. By 19, she was the  understudy to the lead portraying Selena in the off-broadway musical, “Selena Forever.” Forever linking herself to the Tejano icon Selena, she performed background vocals for Selena‘s album, “Siempre Selena.” Additionally, she performed background vocals for a variety of musical artists including Veronica Castro‘s Tejano album, “La Tocada,” Thalia‘s song “Todo Es Posible,” and worked with Swedish singer-songwriter Robyn performing background vocals live for “Show Me Love” on the Jay Leno Show, and worked under the direction of Sheila E. for the ALMA Awards.

Upon returning home, Rebecca released her self-titled debut album, earning a prestigious American Grammy nomination for Tejano Album of the Year. Her work with Grupo Mazz led to even greater acclaim, with two Latin Grammy Awards solidifying her as a critical force in the industry.

A versatile talent, she’s also graced television screens, appearing on shows like the Wayne Brady Hour, an ABC-TV variety show, and serving as a vocal producer and coach for *High School Musical: Get in the Picture*.  Rebecca has been musical guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Rosie O’Donnell Show and Cristina, and she recorded vocals for a Fisher-Price lullaby CD and recordings heard on Radio Disney.

Her accomplishments span genres, stages, and mediums, but at the heart of it all is her undeniable talent, resilience, and dedication to her craft. From Tejano royalty to international touring artist, Rebecca’s journey is a testament to passion and perseverance. She is currently writing music for SHELLSHOCK Recording artists and ready for more.
