Having moved around the state of Texas, Sam now resides in the great city of San Antonio. He has been playing a wide range of guitar styles for 30+ years and counting. That skill has allowed him to play and perform guitar solo, and in various musical groups (duos, trios, ensembles). Currently Sam is working on solo projects where he relies on skills as a multi-instrumentalist to record original music. Additionally, he can be found performing at open mic events around the San Antonio area. While earning a bachelor of arts degree from 2003 to 2005 at the University of North Texas, he was immersed in the rich and diverse music scene in Denton, TX. All of the course studies of jazz, classical, pop and other genres of music earned him a concentration in music as part of his degree. Sam considers music an extremely important part of his life and dedicates himself everyday to his craft.

Artist Statement of Work

Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):

Through playing different styles of guitar music, this allows me to connect with myself and others on a deep meaningful level - to provide a meaningful experience. Lately, through the ideas of RHCP guitarist John Frusciante, I have been subscribing to his idea that music is a way to "touch the infinite". It's a recurring phrase he uses. I believe it's a spiritual approach to music, that in some cases, can lead to a transcendental experience for the player and listener. A place where time and space seemingly disappear. I'm always striving to find this place through playing music - even if it's just scratching the surface of it.
