Artist Statement of Work

Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):

The common thread that runs through all of my forms of expression is how the micro also represents the macro. The repressed or expressed identify of a character is a universal striving. The individual immigrant experience and story has much in common with global movement of peoples. The stories revealed by Native American people I lead in a writing exercise represent facets of the voices of native peoples in other countries. The questions around the identity of a subject or character speak to the longing of a people who are dehumanized by categorization and generalization. My expressions and interpretations seek to race up the disconnection to the fullness of presence in the now. Sometimes magic realism helps to overcome the limitations of time and space to tell these narratives and stories.
