I am a multidisciplinary artist born and raised in San Antonio, TX, with clay as my primary focus. Through clay in particular I find a lot of peace, it becomes meditative for me. As a ceramicist, I enjoy every method or style of creating with clay. From throwing cups or bowls on my wheel, to hand building abstract sculptures. I love every step of the process, alchemizing soft, wet earth into hard fired ceramic . It’s such a beautiful and exciting transformation and collaboration with the earth. Since the very beginning of my ceramic journey, I have been very interested in using natural materials and ancestral techniques. With my work, I hope to bring others closer to nature maybe bringing them some peace as well.

Artist Statement of Work

Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):

Clay has a very natural way of bringing you down to earth. I like to follow that line by allowing the colors and textures to speak for themselves or creating textures reminiscent of the natural world. I really enjoy when the viewer physically touches my work, acting on the inclination to literally feel the story. To me, the clay and kiln are my collaborators on every piece, giving much input -like it or not. My process is a timeless expression of alchemy, utilizing and harmoniously melding the elements.
