Meet AS_Kengart (Scott Achankeng), a celebrated visual, contemporary, and mural artist from Cameroon, Central Africa. With formal art training since age 11 and over six years of professional education, Kengart has honed his craft through artist-in-residency programs and courses led by international artists from countries like the US, France, and Senegal. Holding a BFA and MFA in fine art, Kengart’s diverse body of work spans mediums like acrylics and oils. His surrealistic portraits, landscapes, and animal depictions blend contemporary abstraction with thought-provoking themes, exploring lost traditions and modern identity. Kengart’s impressive resume includes collaborations with esteemed art galleries in the US and Cameroon, such as The Quinlan Visual Art Center and The University of Texas at San Antonio Art Gallery. He’s also showcased his work at prominent events like Basel Art Miami.
Beyond his artistic pursuits, Kengart dedicates time to volunteering as an art instructor, teaching art therapy to individuals with disabilities. His philosophy? “It’s a cold world and a brief life… all I intend is to add a little bit more color.”

ARTIST STATEMENT
I am a United States-based artist best known for my life-sized surrealistic paintings.
Humans, places, and things are superimposed on unusual fabric textures, collage mediums, and color patterns in my art, many of which are inspired by my interest in a variety of different styles that I have experimented with over the years.
My paintings are a trip and wonder into human experiences and the true meaning for being. It exhibits experiences I go through and witness. Cultivated in many different traditions, spiritual practices and especially as life's journeyman.
I want my paintings to be a positive, calming, spiritual doorway and window into the third dimension for human experience, providing stillness and presence in a world that, as a result of technological revolution, constantly cheats and distances itself from truly existing.
