Seth Anson is an artist living in San Antonio , TX after graduating from the University of the Incarnate Word in 2024 with experience in Stop Motion Animation, Sculpture and Illustration enjoys creating wildlife and paleoart to showcase the life of the past and the ecology of the present aswell as fictional beasts and varmints which rule the inner mental mindscape. They utilize the more old fashioned artistic mediums to try to bring a new light to the topics they cover. Education through art is one of the best ways to have people engage with a subject, it allows for them to wonder and ponder about both what is portrayed and why it was portrayed in such a way. To also think about the tools and the understandings of the artist used to depict the subject. Whether it be the mighty Dinosaurs of the unfathomably ancient eons old supercontinent, Pangea or a living mystery in our deepest seas like the Colossal Squids who call the deep trenches their home. These curiosities grasp at their brain and make them march onward to educate about said mysteries and our understandings of the natural order. The past is a world long gone now but in order to understand the present, we must understand the past and if we cannot then we will fail to comprehend our future.

Artist Statement of Work

Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):

I try my best to showcase the marvels of the world we live in or the world we imagine through my work, there are so many ways of portraying the joys in life.  I find my joy in life comes from learning about the tales of history and the metaphors of moments people or things have lived through. Wether it be ancient and mighty Dinosaurs of eons ago, the bugs beneath our feet and crawling across the soil, to the deep sea mysteries which lurk down below. The world has so many things that bring me curiosities, and this is just the outside world, the internal world within our mental metropolises also brings me moments of pondering. Constantly questioning the world on its how's and why's leads me trying to showcase in art the same curiosities which grip my brain, to hopefully also spark the same joy I have through both understanding the lives of previous times or the beasts of stories. Through stop motion animation, illustrations and sculptures, I try to show just how amazing both the world we live in and the worlds we create are.
