I am a San Antonio based visual artist creating as Solar Star Princess. After years spent working in education and community-centered spaces, I returned to painting and discovered an unexpected artistic voice through moths. Working primarily with acrylic paint and palette knives, I create large abstract moth paintings centered on visibility and unapologetic feminine energy.

I paint to surprise myself and unlock what I’ve been needing to say. Using acrylic on canvas and a variety of palette knives, I have discovered that moths have become my favorite subject to paint and speak through. I am drawn to them because they are beautiful creatures that often go unnoticed or unacknowledged, and I want them to be seen, REALLY be seen. I paint giant abstract moths in celebration of imperfection because those are the parts most often hidden. Each moth carries a message of visibility and is named in honor of a woman who refused to be small.
My work not only reveals what I’ve been carrying, but also what matters most to me. I want to be part of creating community spaces where people don't have to shrink themselves in order to belong. My aim is to bring these moths to unexpected places throughout San Antonio, as reminders that we all deserve to take up space.
