Phanie Diaz

I go by Phanie Diaz and have been drumming in the scene of San Antonio for 20 plus years now . I started in 94. In 2001 I formed Girl In A Coma . We got signed by Joan Jetts Blackheart records , released 4 albums , made it onto the top 40 on billboards hot seekers charts , won numerous awards and opened for many national acts including morrissey , sia and the Gogos amongst many others . After girl in a coma took a hiatus informed Fea which resigned to Blackheart records . We have also travelled the United States with national acts and have been mentioned by Iggy Pop . We have also played cal jam with Dave Grohl. We are an all female Chicana queer band and our mission is to continue to support our city , introduce our heritage with our Spanish punk songs and be open and proud . We also want the youth to feel that they can persue anything they want no matter their gender , race or sexuality
