Taylor Etienne Bohné is a contemporary artist based in San Antonio, Texas. Born and raised between San Antonio and South Florida, he drew early inspiration from Florida’s tropical landscapes as well as the vibrant Latin, Mexican American, and Chicano art influences deeply woven into San Antonio’s modern art scene. Rooted through family and community in the San Antonio and Southwestern art world, Bohné developed a strong creative foundation from an early age.
A graduate of Alamo Heights High School and the University of Texas at San Antonio, Bohné remained actively involved both academically and creatively, often leading projects while dedicating much of his free time to the arts. Working primarily in acrylic on canvas as well as mixed media sculpture, his style is marked by whimsy, cleverness, bold color, and energetic urban storytelling. His work often highlights distinctive architecture, iconic local businesses, and lively cityscapes—reflecting both his deep pride in his San Antonio roots and his broader appreciation for compelling urban environments wherever they may be.
Artist Type: Multi-Disciplinary; Visual Arts: Mixed Media Artist, Painter, Printmaker
My work explores the connection between people and place through architecture, landmarks, and the built environment. I am drawn to the businesses, theaters, restaurants, storefronts, and historic structures that become woven into a community’s identity and collective memory.
Working primarily in acrylic paint, I use bold color, simplified forms, and imaginative interpretation to transform familiar places into visual narratives. While rooted in observation, my paintings are not intended to function as literal documentation. Instead, they celebrate the personality, history, and emotional resonance of the places that shape our daily lives.
Many of my subjects originate in San Antonio, a city whose unique blend of cultures, architecture, and history continues to inspire my work. Whether depicting an iconic landmark, a neighborhood business, or a reimagined urban scene, I seek to create work that is both deeply personal and broadly accessible.
Through contemporary regionalism, storytelling, and vibrant color, I aim to preserve a sense of place while encouraging viewers to see familiar environments with renewed curiosity, appreciation, and imagination.
