Tiffany Moreno

ES MÍA, MIXED MEDIA ON CANVAS, 2019

Tiffany Moreno (b. 1983 San Luis Obispo, CA) is a visual artist currently based in San Antonio, Texas. She received her BFA in Studio Art from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. Over the past 15 years, Moreno’s professional experience has expanded to include arts administration and community arts education at a number of museums, galleries and cultural centers throughout Texas. Her artwork, strengthened by the breadth of her professional experience, derives inspiration from her own life, growth and absurdity. Drawing from Catholicism, Tejano music, small town living and family humor, Moreno, creates whimsical works that combine cultural and stylistic influences. Her 2019 solo exhibit titled “Con Cariño” was held at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center’s community gallery in Austin, Texas.  “Con Cariño” is an exploration of the natural tension between loss and healing. Humor and heartbreak are juxtaposed in imagery that feels both familiar and foreign. Strange characters and common objects are steeped in cultural iconography and playful phrases that create dissonance. But rather than a sheepish chuckle in an awkward situation, this work is meant to be tongue in cheek in the face of pain.
