I am Western Tink, an artist and designer, proudly rooted in the Gullah Geechee culture and the Mvskoke Creek Nation. Creativity has always been my outlet, whether through music, fashion, or art. As a published artist, my work has been featured in SPIN Magazine and The FADER Magazine, and I’ve had the honor of performing at SXSW and touring across the United States, sharing my voice and vision with audiences everywhere.

In addition to music, I pursued my life long passion for fashion by attending Bauder college and Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia for fashion design. That journey led me to create my own clothing line, House of Yoonit, which tells the story of my life and specific culture as a Gullah Geechee and Mvskoke Creek person. Every piece I design is infused with elements of my heritage, reflecting the rich traditions and narratives that shape who I am. My clothing has been featured in stores like The Vaulti and showcased in the River Center Mall, which are milestones I hold close to my heart.

My ultimate goal is to make San Antonio an epicenter for fashion, bringing together its vibrant culture with my bold and innovative designs. Whether through my music, my clothing, or creative collaborations, my mission is to inspire others, honor my roots, and transform the creative landscape with authenticity and purpose.

Artist Statement of Work

Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):
This work is deeply inspired by what I call "African Americana" (collection), particularly the history and culture of Gullah Geechee rice farmers. The outfit I'm presenting reflects this influence, with my approach being centered around bringing history into the present in a stylish way that tells my personal story. I believe that history isn't just the past—it's the series of events that have shaped the present and continue to impact our lives today. Through my designs, I aim to honor this ongoing connection between past and present, blending culture, fashion, and storytelling to create something both meaningful and visually compelling.
