I was born in Indianapolis, Indiana raised in Fayetteville North Carolina, until my family, we moved overseas. My parents were both in the military and that really shaped my upbringing, in the church, as well as us moving place to place every couple of years. It wasn’t until I made it to high school we landed in Manhattan, Kansas, and in my college years, I found my love of art. Well, it found me actually. It started out as scribbles, lines, and unidentifiable figures, with no color, out of fear of ruining my pieces. I recall a conversation with my older sister who encouraged me to challenge those fears and with no money to spare for canvases I found some wood in my mothers basement and filled in the blank spaces, creating works that define my style.
I have since expanded my horizons, living here in San Antonio. From doing my first mural to the second, and even creating/developing new ways in which I am able to express myself. My name is Danielle Edwards, I go by to.d which simply stands for ‘theonly.daniellee’ but more profoundly ‘Timeless Original Distinct’.

Artist Statement of Work

Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):

The way that I see it, its not just about my works, I can create and make all day, but its about purpose and meaning. It's about who I am and what is in my heart. The fact of the matter is that we all know that life is short and that nothing really happens unless we make it happen. Except for the unforeseen forces that we cannot control. But to be strong and choose to live for God and do right by nature and people, that is my true work.
