My names Vince. I’m a local artist and comedian born and raised here in San Antonio with no plans of leaving any time soon. As a kid I was always in trouble for drawing or painting on the walls… now as I think about it… that was the same reason I was in trouble as a teen. From that experience I learned to draw and paint on my own property. Growing up, my mom would do her best to provide my sibling’s and I memorable experiences of our city… but for me… she would make it a point to teach me about our city’s cultura and artistry that is not just visually appealing but felt in your heart. One day, mom took my siblings and I to central library aka la enchilada. We visited this library often, specifically the third floor… the children’s floor. I loved exploring the library with all of the hiding places but mom always knew where to find me… how to draw books section. As we were leaving she made a comment about the large spheres that are located at the back of the building and I said “I can make those”. She laughed and said “You can make anything you want Vicente”. My mom was my biggest fan and encouraged me to learn and grow as an artist and as a man but most of all not to forget my roots and our cltura. With these teachings I can express myself through my art and amplify our city’s cultura through a perspective that is uniqely different.
