100th Anniversary of the Order Sons of America and the Mexican American Civil Rights Movement

Join LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens) and MACRI (Mexican American Civil Rights Institute) for a virtual talk presented by Dr. Cynthia E. Orozco, preeminent scholar of Mexican American civil rights history, on the centennial of the founding of the Order Sons of America (OSA). The OSA was one of the three organizations that merged to form LULAC in 1929.

Dr. Cynthia E. Orozco is Professor of History & Humanities at Eastern New Mexico University, Ruidoso. She is the author of:
– No Mexicans, Women or Dogs Allowed: The Rise of the Mexican American Civil Rights Movement
– Pioneer of Mexican-American Civil Rights: Alonso S. Perales
and
– Agent of Change: Adela Sloss-Vento, Mexican American Civil Rights Activist and Texas Feminist
as well as a prolific contributor to the Handbook of Texas Online.
