24th Annual Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza

Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán (El Mejor Mariachi del Mundo) returns to San Antonio as part of the 24th Annual Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza.

Year after year, this 7-day music festival continues to be the premiere mariachi music event in the nation and one of the most prominent in the world.

For six generations the Mexico City based Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán has set the standard for mariachi music across the world, continuing to shape and define the genre with their iconic sound and style. Under the musical direction of Carlos Martinez, the 14-piece ensemble continues to amaze audiences with their high energy performances that keep the Mexican and Mexican-American traditions alive, while pushing limits and drawing more into the genre.

Mariachi Vargas collaborates with many high-profile arts organizations internationally, including the Orfeón Donostiarra of Seville, Spain, Orquestra Filarmónica de Jalisco from Guadalajara and the Houston Grand Opera from Texas. During 2018 Mariachi Vargas has accompanied international superstar Luis Miguel during his Mexico Por Siempre tour in more than 50 cities throughout Mexico, the United States, Canada and Spain.
