Artist Talk: Built on Legacy

The City of San Antonio Department of Arts & Culture invites you to join us for Built on Legacy Artists of San Antonio – Artist Talk on Thursday, August 20, 2026 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Culture Commons Gallery 115 Plaza de Armas.

This panel discussion will examine the parameters of artistic legacy: how to “build” that legacy from the point of view of the artist, institutional and private collector, gallery representative, educator, scholar, and curator. With insight from panelists Mario Esquivel, Barbara Felix, Mari Hernandez, Patricia Ruiz-Healy and Kathy Vargas, a rich and meaningful conversation about artistic legacy in San Antonio (and beyond) and paths to building, documentation, preservation, access, and dissemination. Moderated by Dr. Teresa Eckmann.

Built on Legacy: Artists of San Antonio celebrates the city’s rich artistic heritage, honoring generations of local artists whose creativity and perseverance have shaped San Antonio’s cultural landscape. The exhibition is on view through Jan. 15, 2027.
