The Boerne Book & Arts Fest takes place Saturday, October 1, on Boerne’s beautiful Hill Country Mile with a celebration of all things literary and arts, including live performances, author discussion panels, childrens’ activities and more. The Boerne Book Fest is growing in stature, but firmly remains a downtown Boerne event and fun for the entire family. It is an opportunity for us to showcase the library and all we do – from literature to history to children’s programs – in a fun celebratory day of all things literary.
As always, the festival has a special focus in Texas history. Jennifer Ross-Nazal kicks off the day with a panel on “Making Space for Women.” This panel, regarding the trailblazing women of NASA, is moderated by Boerne Library Advisory Board Member Amy Bean, the daughter of astronaut Allen Bean and includes Astronaut Eileen Collins. Other panels include the myths and mysteries of the Lone Star state and Texas Rivers, Sarah Bird’s latest book, “The Last Dance on the Starlight Pier,” festival-goers will learn about underground Texas dance halls in prohibition and the mob’s role in shaping Galveston tourism in the 1930s.
