Briscoe Book Club

Join the Briscoe Book Club for a discussion in a social gathering as we explore great works of poetry, fiction, and non-fiction inspired by the vast and varied experiences of the American West. We will discuss a new book each quarter. Books are available for purchase at the Museum Store or you can reserve copies for check out through the San Antonio Public Library system prior to each meeting.
A Lady’s Life in the Rocky Mountains by Isabella Bird
Read the real-life accounts of Isabella Bird’s travels in 1873 through the rugged terrain of the Colorado Rockies. The book is based on her colorful letters home to her sister. Through her letters, Isabella describes the unique characters she meets, the incredible natural world she encounters, and the many hardships of frontier life.
