Phillip is a multimedia artist and speaks openly about the struggles and mercy of his mental health and explores themes of love and grace in his art and music. Luna’s newest series “Color Studies in Sunday Morning Jazz” highlights the dynamism and emotive quality of color and composition by deconstructing artistic elements into their simplest forms to highlight their inherent power. Just as he used to play jazz on Sunday mornings for the San Antonio community at the Cove, his current paintings are a free-flowing, expressive reflection of a lifetime of study. He comes to the canvas open to the possibilities of discovery and invites the paint to take on a life of its own – both reflecting his feelings in the moment and illuminating the connectedness of our human experience. The orchestration of color and highly intentional line illuminates the archetypical nature of human emotion and experience.
