After a world premiere of the documentary feature Cowboys at the Austin Film Festival, photographer John Langmore comes home to the Briscoe Western Art Museum. Langmore is an Austin, Texas, based photographer pursuing long-term personal projects.
Told in the cinematic tradition of classic westerns, this feature documentary offers the opportunity to ride alongside modern working cowboys on some of America’s largest and most remote cattle ranches.
Join us for a special screening of his film with a Q&A led by Langmore, followed by a book signing of his recently published book, Open Range: America’s Big-Outfit Cowboy (Twin Palms Publishers 2018), is the result of over six years of work photographing on fourteen of the country’s largest ranches, all running full crews of horseback cowboys. This work has been widely published and exhibited in galleries and museums.
