Earth Day at the Briscoe: Shadowbox Insect Art with La Chicharra

Connie Zamorano of San Antonio’s La Chicharra will delve into the fascinating world of insect artistry and how entomology – the study of bugs – inspires her creature creations. Chicharras, or cicadas, are known for their dramatic life cycles and Zamorano frequently uses them in her art.  Sharing how she embarks on foraging adventures, harvesting from her own garden and collecting specimens ethically, Zamarano invites everyone to discover the creative possibilities of often-overlooked natural materials.
