In Full Color | Theresa Newsome

“In Full Color” is a photographic project that explores and celebrates the personal experiences and interpersonal relationships within San Antonio’s black queer community. This exhibition aims to shed light on the unique perspectives of its members, often overlooked or misrepresented, by documenting their realities in private moments and communal spaces. Through staged, directorial, and documentary-style photographs, the project captures the nuanced narratives of black LGBTQIA+ individuals.

In addition to visual storytelling, the project includes research into the history of black queer culture in San Antonio, both past and present, and features interviews with community members across different generations, social classes, sexualities, and gender expressions. The resulting images and stories will be exhibited at Gallery100 at Palo Alto College from:

 February 3rd – 27th (9am-4pm)

with a reception and artist talk:

on February 20th from 11am-12pm.

The exhibition will include the presentation of a photographic book available for pre-order and purchase with a portion of the profits going towards supporting members of the community.
