“Made in S.A.” Film Series – “Wings”

Join Texas Public Radio, the San Antonio Film Commission (a division of the City of San Antonio’s Department of Arts & Culture), and Slab Cinema for a “Made in S.A.” film series. This free series celebrates San Antonio’s Tricentennial year by screening films that were made in San Antonio at (or very close to) the location where they were filmed.

The first screening is a special one – we’re headed to Fort Sam Houston’s Quadrangle to show “Wings.” Filmed on base in 1927, the movie received the very first Academy Award for Best Picture in 1929 at a ceremony held at the Hotel Roosevelt in Hollywood.

As Fort Sam Houston is an active military base, the screening of “Wings” is the only screening that requires pre-registration. Attendees 18+ must pre-register by Thursday, March 8 with:

First, Middle and Last Name

Date of Birth

ID (Driver’s License or Passport), including State of Issue and Number

Names of Guests Under the Age of 18

PLEASE NOTE: Attendees must bring ID they registered with to the event and enter through the Walter’s Gate on Winfield Scott Rd. Please allot extra time to accomodate security at base. Attendees with expired vehicle registration and IDs will not be permitted on base.

All screenings are open seating, BYOC (bring your own chair), and available space is on a first-come, first-served basis. Screenings will start 15 minutes after dusk.
