My Arab Fall

My Arab Fall is a multi-media theatrical performance connecting Egypt’s Arab Spring to the plight of San Antonio women in the age of #METOO #YOTAMBIEN or #ANAKAMAN. Seen through the eyes of two women – a naive yet eager Chicana tourist and an Egyptian activist fighting to change the world she lives in – this piece is a sometimes comical, sometimes harrowing exploration of sexual harassment/assault amid the dramatic social changes taking place in our world today.

Anna De Luna writes and performs this dramatically charged performative travelogue with fellow San Antonio actress Kauthar Harrik-Sharif.  My Arab Fall is also co-written by Doyle Avant and directed by Mellissa Marlowe.  Ms. De Luna was inspired to create the work by her travels in the Middle East: “I want to bring more awareness to the universal problem of sexual assault and harassment of women from different parts of the world.  I also want to use theater as a tool to explore why this happens and to share the resilience of its victims and the powerful women and men fighting against this.”  For more information call (210) 218-2459.
