An art experience devoted to our city’s river that combines visual, sculptural, and installation art with contemplative practice.
In this culmination of his Individual Artist Grant awarded by the City of San Antonio's Department of Arts & Culture, Jose Sotelo Yamasaki explores the "Spirit of the Water" through a series of new paintings using natural pigments found in the riverbeds of Yanaguana and beyond. The works imagine a river reflecting back to viewers the experiences we humans bring to the water's edge -- be it nostalgia, reconnection, movement, recreation, or even litter.
