An educational day honoring Texas’ African American settlements, known as Freedom Colonies, and the people who are working to preserve their heritage. Interactive opportunities include music and games in the style of Emancipation-era pastimes, storytelling, and a family tree-making exercise.
At 2 p.m., Dr. Andrea Roberts, of Texas A&M University, will present a lecture and slideshow on Texas Freedom Colonies.
