📚 Warrior Girl is a novel in verse about a Chicana girl and her struggle to embrace her Mexican heritage while navigating the expectations of American society. With the support of her family and friends, she finds inspiration from her Gramma and her last name, Guerrera (woman warrior), to celebrate her culture and use her voice to make the world a more inclusive place.
🌵 Dr. Carmen Tafolla (carmentafolla.net) is the 2015 State Poet Laureate of Texas and the former president of the Texas Institute of Letters. An award-winning poet, children’s author, storyteller, performer, and motivational speaker, she is the author of more than forty books and a professor emeritus of Transformative Children’s Literature at UT San Antonio. Her numerous awards include the Américas Award, the designation of first city Poet Laureate of San Antonio, and six International Latino Book Awards. She lives in San Antonio, Texas.
