Dr. Corredera will illuminate the remediation of Shakespeare’s Othello in Peele’s 2017 film, situating it within her broader research on representations of race and gender in “post-racial,” American Othellos

Vanessa I. Corredera is an associate professor and chair of the Department of English at Andrews University. Her research focuses on race and representation in both early modernity and the era’s depictions in contemporary popular culture and performance. Her work has appeared in Early Modern Literary Studies, Shakespeare Quarterly, Borrowers and Lenders, Literature/Film Quarterly, and The Journal of American Studies.
