Untold Stories of the American West at the Witte Museum

Steering Committee Chair, Aaronetta Pierce, moderates a discussion on Black cowboys and the American West featuring Dr. Daina Ramey Berry, Professor and Chair of the History Department at UT-Austin, and co-curator, Ronald W. Davis II, PhD Candidate.

Black Cowboys: An American Story at the Witte Museum explores the lives and work of the numerous Black men, women, and children- enslaved and free- who labored on the ranches of Texas and participated on cattle drives before the Civil War through the turn of the twentieth century.
