To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures will open two new exhibits reflecting on the legacy of HemisFair 1968.
Viva HemisFair: 50 Years of HemisFair ’68 Memories, will focus on the story of the vision behind HemisFair’68 and highlights and personal memories of the Southwest’s first World’s Fair. Through historical photos, personal anecdotes, HemisFair memorabilia, archive film footage and more, the exhibit reveals what it took to put on the fair, and how it impacted San Antonio and the surrounding area
Viva ITC: A Legacy for the Future, presents the remarkable history of the Institute of Texan Cultures, a venture that began with HemisFair’68 and continues to inspire and educate today. The exhibit details the origins of the institute, from its commissioning in 1965, to opening in 1968, re-opening as a permanent museum and educational center after HemisFair, and its continuing work serving the state of Texas.
Viva HemisFair closes Dec. 31, 2018. Viva ITC will become a long-term exhibit.
