Join us for a special ABCs of World Heritage, where we will learn about the Mission ranches, like Rancho de las Cabras. Listen to a story and do a fun activity! Families are welcome to arrive at 9:45 am for open play. Free and open to the public.

Thursday, September 10, 2026 – The Alamo
6 PM – 7 PM | The Texas Cavaliers Education Center at the Alamo | 300 Alamo Plaza, San Antonio, TX 78205
Join the Alamo Archaeology team in examining Mission-era artifacts discovered at Mission San Antonio de Valero. At this hour-long workshop, you’ll learn to determine the age and material of these artifacts, plus discover how they were used during daily life by mission residents. Free Admission with limited space available. Online registration required at Archaeological Artifact Workshop — The Alamo. Registration opened to the public on July 13, 2026.
Thursday, September 10, 2026 – Table Reading of Frederico Garcia Lorca’s House of Bernarda Alba

Enjoy a special table reading of Frederico García Lorca’s House of Bernarda Alba. Granada, Spain, a UNESCO Creative City of Literature was home to the poet and playwright, a cultural force in the 1920 and 30s. This performance led by Tony Plana brings the piece to life.

Friday, September 11, 2026 – The Past is Our Future!

In celebration of the 11th Annual World Heritage Festival, join The Conservation Society for a discussion about our role in the Missions’ UNESCO World Heritage Site designation, the Yturri-Edmunds connection, and our future role in preservation. A tour of the Granary will follow the discussion.

Saturday, September 12, 2026 – Tour de Las Misiones

Bike rides: 7–22 miles | Walk/Run: 5K & 10K
Experience a scenic journey through history with the Tour de Las Misiones, featuring a leisurely bike ride ranging from 7 to 22 miles, plus an enjoyable 5K or 10K walk-and-run through the beautiful Mission Reach and Mission San José. Registered participants are guaranteed to receive a commemorative T-shirt, finisher medal, bib, and a special passport to visit the historic missions, all while enjoying a vibrant community festival filled with local artisans, food vendors, music, and various local organizations.

Saturday, September 12, 2026 – Mission Day at the Alamo
10 AM – 2 PM | The Alamo Plaza de Valero | 300 Alamo Plaza, San Antonio, TX 78205
Travel back to the 1700s when the Spanish first established missions in the area that grew to become modern-day San Antonio. During this free, family-friendly event, visitors will hear from descendants of the Indigenous people who lived and worked at the missions, as well as descendants of the Canary Island families and other founding families. Living historians will also host demonstrations showing what life was like for mission residents, including what they ate and the trades they learned. Mission San Antonio de Valero, known today as the Alamo, was the first of five missions to be established along the San Antonio River. More than 300 years later, the Alamo Church and Long Barrack are the two surviving structures from that era. Free.

El Camino de San Antonio: Care of Creation Mass and Walk – Las Misiones
8:00 AM | Mission Espada ǀ 10040 Espada Rd. , San Antonio, Texas 78214
The Care of Creation event begins with an outdoor Mass on the grounds of Mission Espada, celebrated by Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller. After the Mass, participants are invited to walk from Mission Espada to Mission San Juan Capistrano along the San Antonio River Trail. Signage throughout the route will describe the increasing need to care for the World. Paletas, Coffee, and tacos are provided by Catholic Charities at Mission San Juan.
