  • Cactus Pear Music Festival
    Cactus Pear Music Festival

    Cactus Pear Music Festival is a summer chamber music festival that provides great chamber music for people of all ages and backgrounds; adds to the body of chamber music repertoire by commissioning new works from professional composers and young student composers; and significantly contributes to the music education of San Antonio and south Texas young people.

    A resident company of the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, the Classical Musical Institute is dedicated to cultivating classical music education and performance as a gateway to the arts. CMI’s future vision is to partner with area school districts and arts organizations to establish a year-round accredited institute. Chamber Orchestra of San Antonio (COSA) is an innovative symphonic orchestra formed to augment the arts in San Antonio and surrounding townships. COSA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit classical chamber orchestra whose mission is to cultivate classical music through education and the performance of rarely-experienced, as well as timeless, works.

    In 1983, Marguerite McCormick founded the Children’s Chorus of San Antonio to develop the artistic and personal potential of young people across the city. Today, more than 450 young musicians ages 5-18 gather every week to learn choral music and singing in a healthy, diverse, and inclusive environment. The organization runs eight core ensembles, one of which is in special collaboration with the Boys and Girls Clubs, as well as an extensive early-childhood music and movement program for babies and toddlers called Music Together. Through their specially crafted programming, CCSA continues to cultivate the arts and culture in San Antonio, while transforming the lives of young people through the power of music and friendship.

    The Conjunto Heritage Taller is a community-based organization dedicated to the preservation, perpetuation and instruction of traditional conjunto music as played with the button accordion and bajo sexto. CHT is committed to exposing the community at large to this genre by performing whenever invited and available to do so. Our vision is that this music, born in this region by the melding of the European accordion and the Mexican bajo sexto, be afforded folk music status and be enjoyed globally.

    Dreams Fulfilled through Music is dedicated to developing the personal accomplishment, social growth, and self-esteem of persons with special needs through music education, recreational music-making, and performance opportunities. They provide the individual with disabilities the opportunity to express and utilize their innate talents. Qualified teachers and mentors provide the guidance that results in bringing the joy of making and sharing their musical talents to under-served audiences in San Antonio and beyond.

    The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center cultivates, preserves, and promotes traditional and contemporary Latino, Chicano, and Native American art and culture through multidisciplinary programming to include Dance, Theatre, Film, Music, Literature, and Visual Arts. The center also offers year-round educational programming through its Arts Academy and produces several free community events.

    The Network for Young Artists develops innate talent and builds self-esteem in youth through cultural programs in voice, dance, and musical instruments. Music education classes and performing opportunities are open to all youth from 4 to 20 years of age, providing performances of popular music, musical standards, and traditional cultural Latino music.

    The Sociedad Herencia Puertorriqueña (Puerto Rican Heritage Society) promotes and maintains the Puerto Rican culture and traditions alive in San Antonio through cultural celebrations such as art exhibits, piano concerts, folkloric dance troupes and musical ensembles.

The goal of the organization is to provide a level of excellence in vocal performance; to enhance vocal education for students; to present unparalleled serious, challenging, and innovative repertoire; and to offer a creative venue for professional singers in the area.

    As a cultural cornerstone of the region for 80 years, the Symphony Society of San Antonio is a vibrant, energetic organization that respects the symphonic tradition while embracing the youthful spirit and diversity of San Antonio. Each season, the 72-member orchestra presents a full season of concert programming with diverse symphonic repertoire and over 100 community programs and events, engaging over 160,000 people, including 50,000 children, each season. The Symphony continually strives to reflect the dynamism and celebrate the rich culture of its home city through collaborative and innovative programming and to further enrich lives through the inspiration of symphonic music.

    San Antonio based singer, songwriter, and guitarist, Sierra Lynn, is known for her soulful, powerful, captivating sound. Her stage presence along with her lyrics can grab the attention of every person in a room. Her influences are rooted in soul, blues and rock. Sierra Lynn has been active in the San Antonio music scene for a while now and is currently working on her second original album. She plays her original music as well as a wide variety of cover music ranging from “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd to “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons.     SOLI’s mission is to cultivate and promote the awareness and appreciation of contemporary classical music through commissioning projects, high-caliber performances, cross-genre collaborations, and engaging educational and outreach programs. Through these initiatives, SOLI seeks to generate a genre that stretches the boundaries of classical chamber music into a new model of musical expression and commission new works by emerging and established composers. Winner of the 2013 CMA/ASCAP Adventurous Programming Award, SOLI Chamber Ensemble was founded in 1994 with the purpose of giving voice to 20th-and 21st-century contemporary classical music through commissions, performances, and educational and outreach programs. Marshaling their talents as award-winning performers, SOLI’s highly talented musicians sustain a passionate commitment to commissioning and premiering new works by emerging and established composers. In its first 25 years, SOLI has commissioned and premiered more than 100 new works from some of today’s most exciting composers. SOLI’s cutting-edge performances take audiences beyond traditional chamber music settings to create new musical experiences that expand the expression of sound and broaden the minds of its listeners. SOLI regularly collaborates with artists and ensembles in other mediums, such as film, theater, graphic design, art, text, and dance, to incorporate elements that further expand the expression of musical works and the audience experience. A short list of these collaborators includes: Ballet San Antonio, Youth Orchestras of San Antonio, graphic designer Erica Eliiot, Attic Rep Theater, OPERA San Antonio, the Children’s Chorus of San Antonio, the Marion Koogler McNay Art Museum, and the San Antonio Symphony. In addition to its regular season programming in San Antonio, TX where the ensemble is based, SOLI frequently performs concerts around the country. In 2018, SOLI embarked on its international debut, performing concerts throughout northern Italy and as Ensemble In Residence at the Alba International Music Festival. In recognition of its artistry and commitment to contemporary music as a living art, SOLI was awarded a prestigious showcase performance at the 2016 Chamber Music America Annual Conference where the ensemble made its New York debut for a standing room only audience. Education is critical to SOLI and the ensemble has developed educational programs designed to cultivate the next generation of contemporary music artists and music lovers. Throughout each season, SOLI works and performs with children K – 12, teaching them the joys of communicating through chamber music. SOLI’s residency program at the Musical Arts Center of San Antonio are free and open to the public, and take place once each month during the season. As Ensemble in Residence at Trinity University since 2008, SOLI frequently performs on campus, conducts open rehearsals, coaches student groups, and advises student composers, and performs residencies at universities and colleges throughout the country. SOLI has recorded six commercial CDs of works that the ensemble has commissioned over its 25 year history and more projects are underway.

    Housed in the first city-owned and city-built theater in the United States, the San Pedro Playhouse, The Public Theater of San Antonio connects the San Antonio community to the world at large by telling stories that reveal the truth of the human experience. Each year, this professional-regional theater produces a series of plays in its two theaters that include a variety of dramas, comedies, and experimental works. Both stages host original works by local playwrights as well as classic and recent Broadway hits. Each season, the organization contracts hundreds of local artists, showcasing some of San Antonio’s greatest talent. Located in the first public park in Texas, San Pedro Springs Park, The Public Theater is a historic treasure and vibrant arts and cultural resource for San Antonio. The Public Theater of San Antonio is An Actors’ Equity SPT Category-1 Theater.
  • The URBAN-15 Group

    URBAN-15 creates art that merges traditional Latino Culture, modern artistic aesthetics, and creative technologies. URBAN-15 provides instruction and dance troupe ensemble performances for participants to develop the skills and creativity to ensure life-long participation in the arts. The organization blends traditional and modern art-forms in music, movement, and media.
  • Youth Orchestras of San Antonio (YOSA)

    The Youth Orchestras of San Antonio (YOSA) provide a comprehensive orchestral music program that includes five orchestras at various skill levels. YOSA provides youth development through music education, offering student musicians opportunities to study and perform with local professional musicians and national guest artists.
