Arte y Pasión, led by dancer and artistic director, Tamara Adira, is a Texas 501c3 company known for pushing the boundaries of flamenco and Spanish dance, and one of the most contemporary Spanish dance companies in the United States.
Arte y Pasión has conceived, produced and performed artistic direction for over 30 theatrical flamenco productions between 2010 and the present, nurturing the connection between San Antonio and Spain for over 16 years, bringing flamenco artists from Spain to work with American artists since before 2010, fostering the continued growth and evolution of the art of flamenco in San Antonio and greater Texas.
Arte y Pasión is known for having weaved into its artistic vocabulary disciplines such as modern dance, spoken word, fine and performance art to generate juxtapositions and contrasts. The company engages in cultural and artistic exchanges on an ongoing basis with acclaimed flamenco artists from Spain, France and around the world. The result of our work is flamenco and performance art with a message: our performances are imbued with meaning and human significance.
In November 2025, Arte y Pasión expanded their work across the Atlantic, now performing in Spain and Morrocco. In Mar 2025, Arte y Pasión performed SONIDOS DE LIBERTAD “Sounds of Liberty,” a history of Punk as told through the art of flamenco, their second time hand-picked for the season of the venerated Carver Community Cultural Center. In 2024, Arte y Pasión performed productions ADVENTURE STORIES, and MINHA, a Prayer for Peace, a prayer for peace in Gaza. In 2023, Arte y Pasión performedMERCURIA, an anthem to the impossible choices women must make in pursuit of their own agency.
We are honored to have collaborated closely with San Antonio Poet Laureate Andrea Vocab Sanderson in many of our projects, as well as such artists among the great masters of flamenco as Belen Maya, and late legends Teo Morca and Timo Lozano. The company artistic direction has drawn from experience in experimental performance art through training with the late master of experimental performance art, John Cage, and continues to develop in the art of flamenco and experimental works, through collaboration with artists on both sides of the Atlantic.
