Opera Piccola of San Antonio is a d.b.a of Alamo City Opera, formed in 2012 as a non-profit organization. Opera Piccola was created for the intent of producing and presenting highly professional opera in intimate settings. The organization is well on its way to becoming an intricate part of our city’s cultural scene. After a very successful 8-performance run of Mozart’s Cosi fan tutti, a double-bill of Menotti’s The Telephone and Mollicone’s Face on the barroom floor, a weekend of concerts by Mexico’s 3 Tenors and most recently the opening of its 2nd season with Donizetti’s Don Pasquale at the Josephine Theatre, the company is beginning to grow in audience and quality of performance. The company is also making strong inroads with the Hill Country performing opera programs and touring productions, most recently Cosi fan tutte in Uvalde and New Braunfels and the double-bill in Fredericksburg. By local and regional collaborations with other arts groups, Opera Piccola has its mission on performance, career opportunities for rising artists and providing an awareness of opera in the company's education and outreach programs.
