The Academy of Fine Arts Jazz Ensemble (AFA Jazz)

The AFA Jazz Ensemble (AFA Jazz), founded in 2011, provides instrumental students an opportunity to develop their ensemble playing in a stylized Jazz Band format, and also allows students to develop as soloists. Our goal is to provide the foundation for a life-long passion for Jazz.

This elite group is open to serious high school and college musicians by audition only. The AFA Jazz performs in small and large group settings on and off campus throughout the year. Participants are challenged to grow in new directions during rehearsals that incorporate ear training, jazz theory, and advanced concepts in jazz improvisation.
