The URBAN-15 Group

The URBAN-15 Group

URBAN-15 is a non-profit arts organization in San Antonio, TX.

URBAN-15 focuses on Music, Movement & Media and is dedicated to creating educational programs, events and performances which inspire creativity, confidence, community, and culture.

Our name “URBAN-15” is a throwback to how the group began in 1974. URBAN-15 started out as a group of 15 visual artists, sculptors, composers, filmmakers and dancers creating performances, films, and human-scale, interactive art throughout San Antonio. As their style evolved, the ensemble took their work all over the U.S. and Latin America. In 1984, the URBAN-15 Group became a non-profit. They began to hold workshops and residencies in schools, community centers, and museums, as well as put on city-wide performances and events.

URBAN-15 hosts numerous events throughout the year, from music, to film, to dance, to poetry, and everything in between! Our signature events include our annual Holiday Laser Show, the Josiah Media Festival, and Incognito: Fiesta’s Masked Ball. We also teach free classes for seniors and children as well as perform throughout the city and state with our world-famous drum and dance ensemble, Carnaval de San Anto. CDSA makes regular appearances in cultural events such as Luminaria, Jazz S’Alive, and the Fiesta Flambeau Parade.
