Carlos Sanchez de la Garza immigrated to San Antonio in 1995 from Monterrey, Mexico. He graduated high school from Oliver Wendell Holmes in 2000.

After high school, he chose to master the art of carpentry to earn a living, and apprenticed under the guidance of master carpenters Shawn and Zach Seiter for fifteen years. During his apprenticeship, his passion for music led him to discover the double bass, with which he fell immediately in love. He attended San Antonio College and obtained an Associate’s Degree in Music in 2013.

At SAC, he was mentored by bass master, Steven Zeserman. Under his guidance, he began to master the double bass which led him to attend UTSA, where he pursued a Bachelor's Degree in music. He is still working towards his educational goals, and works for the City of San Antonio's Parks and Recreation Department as he raises two daughters with his partner.

Someday, he will attain this degree.

Carlos has performed with local bands in the San Antonio music scene. First, he was a founding member of Los Nahuatlatos, who had a residency at the legendary Saluté International Bar. Later, he helped found The Indigenauts. He has written and performed original music for the past ten years.

In 2023, Carlos was awarded an Individual Artist Grant from the City of San Antonio to compose and record Pasos y Ritmos, a full-length record with his band, NOPALLI. The record is pressed on vinyl, streaming on Spotify, and available for purchase on Bandcamp.
