  • I am Jessica Hawkins. I was born and raised on the East Side of San Antonio. I am a product of inner city schools and an alumni of UTSA with a BA in Mexican American Studies. My time at UTSA sparked my interest in organizing and volunteering. I enjoy volunteering within San Antonio's non-profit sector and fighting for women's rights, reproductive justice, and equal rights for the LGBTQ.

Gacho Marx is my drag king alter ego. Gacho is 'La Voz de Los Mentirosos', San Antonio's Premier Latinx Drag King Troupe.  Gacho is a San Anto fresa who respect his father, idolizes his mother, and loves his hair. Los MENtirosos' focus is to create space for drag kings in San Antonio, allowing kings to express their creativity through the art of drag. Los MEN love their community and promote body positivity, reproductive justice, and individuality in all of their projects.

Nacho Marx is the alter ego to Gacho Marx and is co-creator and host of Drag King Bilingual Story Time con Los Mentirosos. Drag King Bilingual Story Time, where D.R.A.G. signifies Dancing, Reading, Arte (Art) y Ganas (Movement & Empowerment), serves to create kid-friendly events that are accessible to parents and help enrich a child’s development while promoting inclusion.

Story Time teaches simple lessons like learning colors, shapes, and counting but also promotes important subject matter like body positivity, gender identity through the introduction of pronouns, and pride in Mexican culture. Culture is brought to life by reading bilingual children's literature. Story Time goes from bilingual to multilingual when books are also used to teach Nahuatl (ancient Aztec language) lessons! Each one hour show includes craft time and joyful movement breaks and culminates with an interactive drag show of both drag and gender non-binary performances from Spanish speaking pop icons.
