First and foremost I am a Xicanx feminist artist with 25 years of experience in Chicanx cultural production as an artist, curator, professor, administrator and community activist. I am an Associate Professor and Program Head of the Visual Arts at Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU). I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Painting and Sculpture from Texas Woman’s University and a Masters of Fine Arts in 2D and 3D from the University of Wisconsin Madison. I also received a Certificate in Traditional Culture from Universidad Nahuatl in Ocotepec, Mexico. I have extensive experience in teaching, 2D and 3D art and my personal and academic interests of the study are Chicana/o, Chicanx and historically underrepresented culturas.
