Jerrod first discovered his interest in music playing clarinet and bass clarinet in middle school moving to the guitar and bass guitar in high school with a group that performed Beatles and other rock n roll/blues music. Some members of that group have gone on to perform professionally with major touring acts from Los Angeles; perform in Europe and Broadway in New York. After high school, Jerrod began to study bass at the University of Houston. Jerrod learned Jazz concepts and began to study the fundamentals of the Double Bass. After a few years of playing in the North Harris Community College Jazz Orchestra, he was accepted into the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston. Jerrod studied classical double bass with Dennis Whitaker, principle bassist for the Houston Opera/applied double bass professor at the University of Houston. During his time at UH, he performed regularly with the Latin Jazz Ensemble and shared the stage with Dave Liebman a renowned saxophonist and previous member of the Miles Davis group. Jerrod moved to San Antonio and attended UTSA on a music scholarship where he studied with Steve Zeserman, a member of the San Antonio Symphony. Jerrod graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Music from UTSA. Jerrod continues to perform in San Antonio with professional jazz bands at clubs, restaurants and festivals.
