Abyss of Bliss was formed in early 2018 when former classmates Iris Bailey and Flip Johnston began jamming and writing songs together in San Antonio, TX. Early on, the duo leaned towards R&B and jazz textures before beginning a two year association with the San Antonio rock trio "The Hollowmen". Bailey and Johnston collaborated with the trio on a full length self-titled album as well as four singles, "Run, Hot in the City, Lacerated Souls, and Ana Maria (Woke Up Like This)" before turning their attention to recording and releasing an independent EP as Abyss of Bliss. Later that same year, a follow up EP was released with Iris and Flip now officially joined by the drummer and guitarist of “The Hollowmen”.
