Kim Garza Chbeir is an artist, curator, and art educator living and working in San Antonio, Texas. Born on the Laredo/Nuevo Laredo border, her work, primarily painting and performance art, is influenced by borders both real and imagined, personal experiences and research. In 2005 she earned a bachelor's of Fine Art in painting with a minor in Art History and 2014 completed a Master's in Bicultural Bilingual Studies with a minor in Bicultural Studies with honors from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Dedicated to promoting Visual Arts education for youth, Garza Chbeir served as an art teacher for five years at SAISD and previously as a case worker for the State of Texas and the City of San Antonio juvenile court, implementing art programs and collaborative projects that gained national attention. It is her vocation to produce art and curate experiences that engage and inspire audiences in active visual communication through large-scale paintings, murals, mixed media projects, and performance art.
