You may have come across D.T. Buffkin in one iteration or another over his 20 years in the San Antonio arts community. Perhaps you caught his piano-blues band The Bad Breath at the Esquire Tavern a decade ago, or you have seen his classic country cover band The Texases at a local honky tonk, benefit or gala. Or maybe you saw him leading a group including Augie Meyers and Flaco Jimenez for his 2018 solo album release, or read one of his pieces when he was the music editor for the San Antonio Current. Buffkin has recently finished a cycle of short stories with the unifying theme of betrayal and its many forms and he is currently working on a novel in which three exiled prisoners spend their last years together digging their own graves, reminiscing on their lives, the joys and perils of existence, and awaiting their executions.
