Soomin Jung was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea and relocated in San Antonio, TX in 2002. She has an MFA degree in Drawing and Printmaking. She is known for he meticulous colored pencil and graphite drawings, and use of vibrant colors. Currently, Soomin is an art instructor at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX, and nationally and internationally exhibiting artist. Her work has shown in Texas, Illinois, Ohio, Louisiana, New York, Missouri, Utah, Minnesota in the United States, Toronto and Ontario in Cananda, Florence, Italy, Seoul, Korea, and Zurich, Switzerland. Her exhibition history includes solo and selected group shows such as Hunting Art Prize, Texas Biennial, Texas National, International Drawing Annual, Bradly Internation Print and Drawing Exhibition, Texas Draws, CPSA Annual international drawing exhibition and conference 2018 (Best ofthe Show), and New Texas Talent. Soomin’s work is in number of private and public collections including the University of Texas at San Antonio Art Collection, City of San Antonio Art Collection, Stanford Healthcare and Independence Bank Collection. She recently completed her 6 months artist residency at McNay museum of art in San Antonio for the Studio program as an inaugural artist.
