Destiny Marie Hernandez is a multi-talented, 12th generation lineal descendant of the Payaya Clan of the Tap Pilam Coahuiltecan (Qua-Wheel-Tekcan) Nation. With roots planted deeply in Yanaguana, “Land of the Spirit Waters” (Pahalatl), with homestays in Miami, Florida (Seminole Territory), Destiny proudly identifies as a “Coahuiltecan Tejana.” Destiny started dancing competitively at the age of 5, while attending Magnet Dance Middle and High School programs in Florida; finding a love for movement, rhythm, and culture. Soon after, Destiny expanded her palette for dance by learning and practicing jazz, tap, ballet, salsa, acro, hip hop, contemporary, and other ethnic forms of dances. Destiny later formally studied Dance Education at Broward College in Broward County, Florida. While at the University of Miami (FL), Destiny was Captain of the Miami Hurricanettes Dance Team. Today, Destiny leads the Fancy Shawl Troupe of the American Indians in Texas Dance Theatre and is also a company member of the professional cast for the world-renowned Bellydance EvolutionDestiny has danced and been featured in front of hundreds of audiences around the world as a soloist, headliner, and featured artist with over 24 years of experience. In the recent past, Destiny has been featured in major international markets such as Tokyo, Rome, Prague, Cairo, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Miami, and San Antonio, all while maintaining full-time work as the Operations Manager at American Indians in Texas at the Spanish Colonial Missions (AITSCM) and pursuing her law degree at the University of Texas at San Antonio. American Indians in Texas is the longest running and largest non-profit organization in the state of Texas that works for the preservation of Native American issues while also advocating for the First People of San Antonio. Destiny has recently completed the Racial Healing Practioners Leadership Development cohort by the National Compadres Network to become a certified Racial Healing Circlekeeper. Finally, Destiny is licensed to sell real estate in the state of Florida and is a member of the largest local realtor association in the nation–The National Association of Realtors. Destiny uses her energy to promote physical, mental & emotional wellness, and enjoys spending time with her loving partner Maximo, watching the Dallas Cowboys dominate the NFC east, and cuddling with her chihuahuas Chico, Emma, Rogue and Pink.
