I, Lynn Maverick Denzer, build on the past and look toward the future, and live very much in the present doing my art. I  am a 5th generation Maverick descended from the Samuel Agustus Maverick family, who were the 1st Anglos to settle San Antonio in the 1800s. His grandson. my grandfather Maury Maverick Sr, had much to do with the pursuits I chose to relate to. MMK was a politician fighting for equality of human rights and he sought cultural awareness and justice.  His views were not always popular with the mainstream and he lost his 2nd mayoral election because he stood up for activists such as Emma Teneyuca, who fought for the rights of her people. He was interested in the native and Hispanic culture of Bexar as shown in his work in saving La Villita Historic Arts Village and enhancing its charm by procuring moneys from Roosevelts New Deal programs and  establishing a cultural relationship with Mexico.  All of this can be read about in the book Old Villita and La Villita Continues, which I continued by republishing and  adding the continuing story.  This book  has several of the watercolors that I painted when co oping in one of the galleries there, after retiring from secondary  art and reading  teaching. My continued interest in pursuing art comes from a combination of varied interests of life's mysteries and of plenty of practice and experience in the skills and mediums I use.  My subjects are the beauty of nature  and the human form. In addition I appreciate the crafts of Hispanic and Asian Cultures and don't shy away from lending my artistic imagination and skills to convey what I see and understand about the cultures. Often the paintings are taken from my own photos.  Recently I was moved to paint a Vietnamese Martial Arts Master in action and got permission from the photographer. I will also go toward the mystical spiritual or fantasy as things unfold in my process. I like bright colorful complimentary and analogous color schemes. Because of my classical training in line shape space color and perspective form, I tend to convey realism ,  and some more experimental or fantasy techniques.  I have taken several artidt led  workshops  to explore artistic expression and expand my skills. Also I have  given workshops  and taught small classes in art mediums to children to senior citizens myself. One such place was Inspire Fine Arts. Presently I am teaching senior citizens Watercolor and Acrylic painting through Bihl haus Arts.

MY artwork , Watercolors and acrylics have  been displayed at Carver Cultural Center Incarnate Words Rebarn,  Highwire gallery, SA Art League, Centro Cutural Aztlan ,  Celebration Circle Altar Shows, La Villita Historic Arts Village: Galleria II and Starving Artist Gallery, and Upstairs # 209 Bluestar, Keller Rhin studio,  presently.
