Roberto Prestigiacomo is a theater-maker whose national and international creative work includes directing plays and devising transPerformances and Theatre for Social Change Projects. Roberto received an Artists Foundation award, was the DCCD artist of the month, and has been awarded grants from the Mellon Foundation, Ford Foundation, The Difficult Dialogues Initiative, and DCCD. Roberto created Forum Theatre projects and TransPerformances in India, Europe, the US; participated in the MITEM-International Festival in Hungary, FLIPT- Intercultural Festival Laboratory in Italy; co-directed an opera in Taiwan, two versions of a Rock Opera in Norway and Poland, organized the SA International Festival of Performance at the Tobin Center with AtticRep. Roberto directed A Través del Muro, a theatre for social change production created with the stories of immigrants with the scenic design by Betsabée Romero. Roberto devised and directed Virennu Facennu, a Performing Human Rights project inspired by the women of the Comunità di Sant’Egidio, and co-directed Città Invisibili at FLIPT in Rome.
