Anthony Gordon is an accomplished educator, slam poet and DJ originally from Detroit, MI. He has a 15 year career in public and private education. He has acted as classroom teacher, campus and district administrator. He currently works as an education consultant and ADEI advocate specializing in improving instructional practices to empower student learning processes. He is a 4 time national slam poet, 2013 Fort Worth Slam Champion and finished in the top 30 at 2013 IWPS in Spokane, WA. Gordon is also a successful youth slam coach. He was a co-coach for the Forth Write Youth Poetry Slam (Ft. Worth) and the Fresh Ink Poetry Slam (SA) teams and was the coach for the Team Champions for the first DFW Louder Than a Bomb Slam Finals in 2015. He has opened for poetry legend Nikki Giovanni. He was the winner at the 2020 King Slam during King Week and finished 2nd at the 2018 King Slam in San Antonio. He was also selected twice for the Via Poetry in the Move competition in San Antonio in 2016 and 2017 and he is a founding member of San Antonio's own 21OGz. He was named the Best Local DJ at the DFW Poetry Award (2013) and has served as the house DJ for multiple TX poetry venues, slam teams and events in his career. Most recently he was a featured artist and DJ for the Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival in San Antonio in 2023. Gordon’s work is inspired by his experience, his love for his community and his family.
