Free Second Sunday at the ITC is a celebration of the Texas cowboy of yesterday and today.
July’s Free Second Sunday at the UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures features the Texas Cowboy, giving guests a glimpse into the cattle drive era and the early days of Texas ranching, all the way back to the Spanish Vaqueros.
Kids and families will have an opportunity to interact with cowboy docents, practice their skills at roping, make their own spurs, grab a seat for cowboy story time, and work on cowboy-themed hands-on crafts.
Saddle Up Sunday occurs along with the ITC’s showing of “SaddleUP,” a traveling exhibit on modern ranching and the families that make a living wrangling livestock, battling weather, and studying markets to stay on the rugged landscape they love. SaddleUP was developed by PolkaWorks and runs through Sept. 1 at the ITC.
